Next time you encounter someone in pain, don’t just wince and pass by with a shrug. Hurting people need a bit of color to brighten their dark places and they need to remember the promise that God is with them right where they are. Where rainbows grow, angels sing and courage becomes contagious. You can be a rainbow gardener by opening your heart even if you’re in pain yourself. Let someone know that although you don’t have it all together, you find comfort and hope in the Lord.
God Always Has A Plan B
It’s like I’ve said at Wisdom and Life previously:
Sometimes when we are hurting we can actually feel better by helping someone else.
Sometimes when we are hurting, if we reach out to another who is also in pain we forget our distress and if we forget our own pain it can help us move away from our challenges. If we can be clear of our own distress even for a short time, if we can focus on someone else’s challenges, someone else’s problem, maybe we will find the solution to our own problem. By focusing on someone else we take the attention off ourselves and put it on someone else.
Besides, are you REALLY someone who walks passed someone in pain and and ignores them? Is that really how you want to be perceived? I hope not. That’s not how the Divine wants you to be. That’s not how Jesus worked. Jesus reached out. It’s why I sometimes find it challenging to see today’s Church ostracizing certain segments of society. The Church should be a welcoming place. The Church should be a rainbow gardener, painting society with brilliant colors.
Not bleakness, not hellfire and brimstone.
It’s why I find myself more aligned with Rob Bell and his book Love Wins. After reading Love Wins, I realized how much Mr Bell and I have in common. It’s where I finally understood that I feel most comfortable in the Universalist paradigm. It doesn’t mean I don’t accept God into my life. On the contrary, I have such a strong bond with God that I see him EVERYWHERE. I carry on a conversation with him ALL the time.
I feel connected on so many levels to the Divine and because I have such a strong connection, I couldn’t fathom ignoring someone in pain. It’s my inclination to reach out. It’s in my DNA to help those who need it.
What about you?
Be Happy! Be Well! Be Positive!
Blessings to you.
Once you realize that life is eternal,
That our souls our eternal,
That we return to light and physical over and over;
We then lose all our distress
We then lose all our fear of dying. For there truly is no end.
