Let Go. Let the Light In

Complaining about anything holds you in the place of refusing to receive the things you’ve been asking for. Justifying about anything holds you in the place of refusing to let in the very things that you’ve been asking for. Blaming someone holds you in the place of refusing to let in the things that you’ve been asking for. Feeling guilty, feeling angry, it doesn’t matter what you call it; it is a refusal, not a conscious one. You’re asking; you can’t help but ask. The Universe is yielding; it must yield. It’s a big question, folks: why aren’t you letting it in?

Look for the positive in life. That has been the underlying theme of Wisdom and Life throughout the course of its existence. Whether I’m discussing death and dying, whether it be dealing with a challenge, whatever is on tap, the best thing, the ONLY thing to do if you want to improve your outlook is to stop complaining, stop justifying. Because as Abraham-Hicks so eloquently says in the above quote, doing those things will only bring more challenges into your sphere.

Let the light in.

In EVERY challenge that arises, you can find a gift if you look. Focus on the positive, focus on the gift in that rough patch you find yourself in. Stop dwelling on the rough patch and find a way out. Feeling angry, feeling bitter, getting anxious only hurts you. Let go of all the hurt. Release the pain. Let the past go.

You can’t do anything about the past transgressions done to you or that you have done to others so why are you still living in that place?  Why are you still letting it haunt you? Ask yourself what am I getting out of this? Is the pain, emotional and physical that I’m experiencing worth the effort I’m putting into it getting me anywhere useful?  I’m betting not. Let it all go.

You can do something physical to let it go. My initial thought was to write down all the complaints, all the justifications, all the blames you still carry and tie the notes to a balloon and launch them into the sky. However, launching balloons is not a very healthy thing to do to the environment these days.

So with that being said, perhaps another option is to light a contained fire and one by one drop each note into the fire, pausing each time and giving thanks to each note. When the last piece of paper has been incinerated, put the fire out and walk away, knowing that you are now clean. You now are free from the encumbrances of your past. And make a promise that from here on you will feel the hurt, you will feel the anger, then let it go. Envision dropping the blame, dropping the anger into an imaginary fire.

Your life will feel so much better. You won’t feel that pit in your stomach. When you leave the bitterness behind, when you let the light in, when you think positive instead of letting negativity encircle you, light and positivity will be the first place you look. Do your best to act this way and you’ll soon see everything turn around. You’ll find there IS another way to live your life. That life IS a gift. And you’ll want to start living it with that in mind.

Stop complaining.  Let the light in and start living!

Be Happy!  Be Well! Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Do You Have To Face Reality?

Many around you want to point out “reality” to you. They say, “Face the facts. Look at what-is.” And we say to you, if you are able to see only what-is—then, by Law of Attraction, you will create only more of what-is… You must be able to put your thoughts beyond what-is in order to attract something different or something more.

Imagining what you want and staying focused on reaching that goal is an important aspect of creating the life you want.  Reality is what we make it. If you want a better reality, it is critical that you start imagining a better place. Those who say:
Face Reality are most likely those who have not been able to do create the life THEY WANTED.  And they may be angry because you are doing your best TO create the life you want.  They may wish they had the chutzpah to follow their own bliss and not pay attention to those who told them:
No.

I’ve actually written about this topic previously:
Reality at Wisdom and Life.  Read the first three columns and you’ll get a feel for my take on what reality means to me.

Some may feel they are helping you from making a financial blunder.  They will say they are looking out for your best interest. But only YOU know what’s in YOUR best interest.  If we want to live a happy life, then we MUST pursue our life’s dream. Since we are discussing reality, I would be remiss in not mentioning Einstein.

Einstein has played a role at Wisdom and Life as can be seen from the following link:
Einstein at Wisdom and Life

I’ve asked my readers before what Einstein has to do with Spirituality which is the overriding topic of this entire blog.  Before becoming familiar with Einstein, I would have said that science and spirituality can not coexist. Now, however, I’ve had to rethink that opinion.

Carl Sagan is another example of how my opinion has changed.  You only have to click his name to see how spirituality and science CAN coexist.  Sagan is the first scientist that I discovered who had a antithetical view that science and religion couldn’t cohabitate.  Read my column about the book and movie Contact at Wisdom and Life to have a deeper understanding of what I’m referring to.

Back on topic, Abraham Hicks quote above is reminiscent of parental pressure, my own topic at Wisdom and Life.  We have to let our children make their own decisions with SOME input.  If they are adamant about pursuing something, it is our responsibility as their parents to support them.  Our reality is different from THEIR reality. Let’s twist this on its side.

What if your child said the same thing to you:
Face the facts.  I’m listening to your suggestions, but I’ve decided that I’m going to follow my bliss.  How would YOU react? Consider for a moment the way you chose to suggest to your child that they listen to YOU.  One of you has to give in if you want to maintain a healthy relationship moving forward. Why not give your child an option.  If they are an artist and want to pursue art, give them an absolute time frame to complete an agreed upon goal, whether it is selling something, whether it is completing a project, whatever it may be if you work together you will find everyone will live a more harmonious life.
That way you can both create your OWN reality.
That way you can both face your OWN reality.

Be Happy!  Be Well! Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

If Your Desire Is Strong Enough

If your desire is strong enough, it doesn’t matter what your beliefs are. If you have a desire that is strong enough, that desire will be the dominant vibration, and it will override any other vibration that you have.

I’ve seen this happen countless times in my own life.  As I’ve written here many times over:
Becoming a successful artist was NEVER NOT going to happen.
Working at my local library was NEVER NOT going to happen.

Image from:

What Abraham Hicks is saying is that if you want something badly enough, and you work to acquire what you desire, nothing will prevent you from reaching that goal. Desiring that which you want is the first step. Once that desire is set in motion, it is difficult to NOT think about that wanting. The more thought, the more desire you give, the stronger that becomes.  It’s like you’re willing what you want into fruition. Heck. It’s not LIKE you’re doing it.

You ARE willing that which you desire to be received.

One of the tenets of Law of is:
Ask for what you want then wait for it to arrive

Put that desire out to the Universe and the Universe will go to work for you. As long as you continue to ruminate over the thought, it can’t help but become a reality.

You have to believe.
You still have to do the work. Nothing is ever handed to you without some work on your part. I think one of the things that got lost in translation with Law of Attraction is the belief that you don’t have to do anything to get what you want. I’ve never known that to be the case.

As an example:
My job at my local library. I knew beyond all doubt that I’d be hired. But it didn’t mean that I didn’t have to put in the work to receive my library science degree BEFORE I was hired full time.

Everything you ever received came with a price. Whether it’s education to get that prize.
Whether it’s talent you had to perfect.
Whether it’s motivation to become a better person.

For each thing you do to improve yourself there is work to be done. Nothing comes to you for free. With that in mind, if you’re willing to do the work, if you have a desire you only have to express it to the Universe then do the work to receive it and the Universe will respond in the positive.

We live in a universe of cause and effect:
Cause:
The desire of wanting.

Effect:
Bringing that want into your world.  It’s as simple as that.

Ask for something and see what happens.  You may be surprised.

Be Happy!  Be Well! Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

A Helping Hand Can Help You

When you see someone living something awful, a rocket of desire for their resolution shoots out of you. And then, if you start focusing upon their resolution, you’ll start feeling better right away. And now, you’re part of the current that is part of the solution.

Have you known this to happen?  If you’re in a low place and someone you know is in a lower place, see if reaching out to them and offering an ear, offering a hug, offering advice if they ask for it, you just may find yourself feeling better.

One of my friends has told me repeatedly that she’d love to help me when she can clearly see that I’m in distress. She knows me so well that even when I THINK I’m hiding it well, she sees through the shade.

One of my INFP personality traits is that I have a difficult time with sharing my challenges, EVEN with my closest friends and family. I’d rather help others deal with their own issues. I’m doing my best to overcome that, but after years of living that trait, it doesn’t come easy to stop doing so.

I understand that by sharing our own challenges we show our vulnerability and that can deepen a relationship.  If we stay closed off, if we don’t share what is troubling us, our friends may look elsewhere for people who will.  If we long for an intimate relationship with another person, then:
–We have to learn to trust them.
–We have to remove our own walls.

–Once we begin to show our vulnerabilities,
–Once we open our emotional wounds to those we trust or are trying to build trust with, we will find that relationship we have been searching for.

It won’t happen overnight.  However if you want to build commitment, if you want others to feel good about themselves when they are in distress, then it is important to let your own walls down.  Let others inside. Let them help you, because as Abraham-Hicks states above:
By helping someone else, you are also helping yourself.

The concentration is off your own challenges and onto someone else.  Thus you’re not dwelling on your own situation. Here’s a writing example for those who write:
Have you ever faced a situation where you’re blocked?  By moving to another project, whether it’s another writing project or some other creative endeavor you do on the side, your thought gets refocused on the new project, freeing you up.  Quite often by removing yourself from the block, you get unblocked because you’re no longer focused on that.

So my advice to those of you in the INFP personality who have a challenging time letting your guard down with your closest friends and family, think about how this affects THEM.  They may need to focus on something else while dealing with their own issues. Help them by letting them help you.

Be Happy!  Be Well! Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

The Thought You’re Thinking

The thought that you think, you think, which attracts to it; so you think it some more, which attracts to it; so you think it some more. In other words, when you have an expectation, you’ve got a dominant thought going on, and Law of Attraction is going to deliver that to you again, and again and again. And you say “The reason that I believe this, is because it is true.” And we say, the reason that you believe it, is because you’ve practiced the thought. All that a belief is, is a thought that you keep practicing.

If you’re thinking is negative and you wonder why challenging events continue to appear in your life, then maybe it’s time to reconsider your thought process. That’s the concept behind Law of Attraction:
Stop thinking negativity and refocus on the positive of your life and you’ll see things start to turn in your favor.

I certainly understand that some of you may see LoA as esoteric, as new age. However I ask those of you who feel that way to spend a month or so exploring the concept and comparing LoA to religious beliefs and I believe you will find compatible issues with both.

It’s important that you stop focusing on WHAT MAY happen and draw your attention to WHAT IS happening. Staying in the present moment is another key in LoA. Nothing bad can happen in the present moment.

Abraham-Hicks is correct:
By focusing on the positive in your life, the challenges will move away.

As I’m fond of saying here. I understand this is easier said than done. Some see this as a platitude. And unless we are in the person’s shoes we shouldn’t be offering this up as something to consider.  The events in our individual lives can be causing stress beyond all comprehension and hearing someone offer up a new way of processing that stress can often be counter productive.

My response to that is
What have you got to lose?

If you’ve exhausted all other factors and you want to feel better emotionally, see if this will help you. One of the things I’ve discussed here earlier about discovering if Law of Attraction will work for you is to:
Start Small

Stop focusing on the negative.
Start focusing on everything good in your life. And remember:
The thought you have is the reality you are creating!

Be Happy!  Be Well! Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Prayer, Faith and Law of Attraction

Your prayer causes you to focus, and the Law of Attraction causes everything in the Universe that’s in vibrational harmony with your focus to come to you.

Abraham-Hicks
December 20, 2017

Law of Attraction and Faith go hand in hand.  It can be seen from the above quote. Prayer is an integral part to both Law of Attraction and Faith.

Image from:

If you remember three of the tenets of Law of Attraction:
 Ask for what you want
 Believe you already have it
Thank the Universe when you receive it.

You can see similarities to faith and Biblical teachings, especially if you merge one and two from above into:
Ask and ye shall receive
–Believe you already have it.  (Belief)
Belief and faith play an important role in the Bible.  For those who read the Bible literally everything is taken on faith and belief.  Belief and faith also play a significant part in my life.

I’ve always had a strong faith and as I’ve said at Wisdom and Life, discovering Law of Attraction has deepened my faith.  It’s why the tagline for my blog is:
Where Law of Attraction Meets Faith and Spirituality.

I certainly believe that Law of Attraction (LoA) merged tenets with Faith, Religion and Christianity to make it more amenable and accessible to a mass audience.  Which is not to take anything away from LoA. The same can be said for the book/movie combination of The Secret.  Concentrating on the goal of getting what you want and just touching on other concepts of LoA made it easier for people getting started understanding Law of Attraction.  Those wanting more now had the beginner knowledge and could dig deeper. Without that “kindergarten” understanding no one would have the ability to move forward if they wanted to.

Those of us, myself included, who discovered the similarities to Faith and Religion found our faith deepening as a result of studying LoA and Faith.  We saw the merged traits and became more enriched. Which in some respect I believe is one of the factors to bringing Law of Attraction to the masses.

What do you think?  I’m interested in your responses.  Feel free to leave a comment.

Learning Turns Everything Into A Positive

Something just a BIT different today, although still a reflection of the themes I discuss regularly at Wisdom and Life.  This time I’m discussing Gratitude as it relates to Tom Brady and his 2018 loss in Super Bowl 52.  As you can see from the preceding link, Brady says he’s grateful for getting to Super Bowl 52.  He says all the right things and everything I believe as well is reflected in his statements.  I especially like the title of this column today.  And yes, Tom Brady is credited with saying:
Learning Turns Everything Into A Positive.

Image from:
Pixabay

I understand that The Patriots can be polarizing.  However, everyone should be able to identify with being grateful.  If you can separate The Patriots and Tom Brady from who they are and simply take Tom Brady’s lesson on finding the gift in loss, you’ll learn to live life in a better way.  It’s why I write this blog.  I want to show that there is another way.  But you still need to do the work.  You still need to apply the lessons.

Being Grateful is a HUGE lesson to learn.  Many people have still to learn that being grateful is the key to a positive life.  Even in life’s catastrophes, if you can take one thing away from adversity and turn it into a positive you’re on your way to living an affirmative life.  This is not an easy step to take when just learning about Law of Attraction, (LoA) which at its core is all about living a grateful life however the more you practice the tenets of LoA, the easier it will become.

Look at Tom Brady’s link above and you will clearly see someone practicing LoA.  He may not know that’s what he’s doing, however it is apparent to anyone who knows the tenets of the practice, that IS EXACTLY what he is saying.

Loss of anything or anyone is cause for reflection and distress.  The goal of reflecting on your challenge is to hopefully come out the other end of the adversity with a positive.  If someone who lost the most impactful game of the NFL season can pull out something grateful from the loss then anyone can find something in their own challenges to be grateful for.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

November is the Grateful Month

Jean Wise at Healthy Spirituality discusses what Being Grateful means to at her her own blog.  We have similar thoughts not only on this topic but throughout the entire spectrum of both our blogs.

Thanksgiving has passed and we are now in full holiday mode. I heard it said last week that November is the thankful month and December is the “I want” month or something similar.

We shouldn’t have to rely on one month to be thankful.  We should be grateful 24-7/365.

Image from:
Public Domain Pictures

What are you thankful for?  And how can you carry that gratitude with you into December and beyond?  There is only so much that we can want before we start having too much.  Instead of “Wanting” in December, why not consider the true meaning of Christmas and other Winter holidays?

What do you think the TRUE meaning of the holidays are?  I can tell what it’s not:
It’s NOT about Santa Claus.
It’s NOT about getting “things.”
It’s NOT about Black Friday.
It’s NOT about wishing you spent more money on the people you love.

Then what IS the true meaning of the Christmas season?
Spending time with loved ones.
Being grateful for what you have and not wanting more.

Being grateful is one of the tenets of Law of Attraction.  If you know anything about Law of Attraction (LoA), it may well be from The Secret.  The Secret is only just one aspect of LoA however.  The Secret discussed how to GET THINGS.  But there is so much more to the practice.  LoA is REALLY a way of living your life and Being Grateful is the major tenet of the practice.  Being Grateful for what you have and not wanting anymore.

Interesting that Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving fall in the same month.  For those are two days we should be thankful.  And it’s why I think that November is indeed called the Thankful Month.  We should be thanking US Veterans when we see them, not just in November but EVERY TIME we see them.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Worrying is Using your Imagination

Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don’t want.

Abraham-Hicks

Yesterday at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society  one of the things the service touched on was how important it is to stay in the present moment.  For it is in the present moment where worry and anxiety can not enter.

Image from:
Pixabay

Why is it that when something is occurring in our lives, generally only focus on the negative:
Why haven’t your friends reached out?
Where is my life headed?

Round and round you go until you are circling the proverbial drain.  You think the worst:
Your friends no longer want to be part of your life.
You see no way out of your life’s current challenges
You wrack your mind attempting to discover something you may have done.

When in actuality, life just caught up with your friends at the moment.
It was nothing you did.  And they do indeed want to still be in your life.

Life is all about challenges and how we all cope with them.

Sometimes all this worrying won’t create the idea from propagating but all that worrying does is create anxiety in you.  So in a way you have created something you don’t want:
Anxiety
Stress
A pit in your stomach.

The same concept can be stretched to any part of your life it doesn’t just have to be a personal relationship.  That worry can be used to create financial turmoil where none is present.
Are your bills paid?
Do you have money left over after?
Do you have a place to go home to?

Worrying about some distant future is not good for your present health either.  It’s why I do my best to stay in the present moment.  When you are in the “NOW,” so to speak, there is never any danger.  It’s only when we forecast, that events spiral out of control.  What worrying REALLY is is forecasting, looking into your crystal ball, attempting to discover what will happen in the future.  Have you noticed THAT is when you are under the MOST stress?  THAT is what causes the pit in your stomach?  There is only one who can properly forecast.

Leave the future to HIM.
Give HIM your worries.
Unburden the shackles of worry and walk gratefully into the present moment.
Nothing can harm you in the present moment; so do your best to stay there.

That is really the only way to live a joyful life.

Stop worrying and confidently move forward, placing one foot in front of the other.
You can do it!

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

A Force in the Universe

There’s a force in the universe that’s 100 percent trustworthy.  It creates and manifests from love, cooperation, beauty, and expansiveness, and it’s to this flawless work of spirit that you can return in order to know inspiration.

Wayne Dyer
Your Ultimate Calling

In my power group, I’ve been told that I have the “God gene.”  That’s not the EXACT phrase that’s used.  What they mean is that I have faith that I’m taken care of, that no matter what happens, I’ll be safe. I’ve mentioned to them that I don’t worry….

….about anything.  It’s why I connect with the above quote by Wayne Dyer.

I understand that I’m taken care of.  No matter what.  I’ve always been blessed to feel that.  I wish everyone could feel the power of faith that I do.  But we all have our own path to walk.  That force mentioned above?

It can be seen as the Universe, a Higher Power, God.

We all need something to cling to when we are circling the drain.  For me, I’ve always relied on God.  I see him everywhere.  It’s why I think I’ve felt protected, because, for myself, God is everywhere.  I feel like we have a symbiotic relationship.  I believe God is everywhere, so God gives me the faith I need to march through this my latest incarnation.

I believe faith and God are all around us we simply have to know where to look.  Sometimes you can’t see what you’re looking for because you have your blinders on.  Remove those spiritual blinders, as I like to say and you’ll feel that force that Wayne Dyer writes about above.

It’s easy for me to have this faith that everything will be alright, because it’s a gift I’ve had my entire life.  If you want some  as I wrote in 2012, the best way is to start small.

There’s a force in the universe that is looking out for all of us.  Can you find it?  If not:
Start small.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.
