Worrying is Using your Imagination

Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don’t want.

Abraham-Hicks

Yesterday at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society  one of the things the service touched on was how important it is to stay in the present moment.  For it is in the present moment where worry and anxiety can not enter.

Why is it that when something is occurring in our lives, generally only focus on the negative:
Why haven’t your friends reached out?
Where is my life headed?

Round and round you go until you are circling the proverbial drain.  You think the worst:
Your friends no longer want to be part of your life.
You see no way out of your life’s current challenges
You wrack your mind attempting to discover something you may have done.

When in actuality, life just caught up with your friends at the moment.
It was nothing you did.  And they do indeed want to still be in your life.

Life is all about challenges and how we all cope with them.

Sometimes all this worrying won’t create the idea from propagating but all that worrying does is create anxiety in you.  So in a way you have created something you don’t want:
Anxiety
Stress
A pit in your stomach.

The same concept can be stretched to any part of your life it doesn’t just have to be a personal relationship.  That worry can be used to create financial turmoil where none is present.
Are your bills paid?
Do you have money left over after?
Do you have a place to go home to?

Worrying about some distant future is not good for your present health either.  It’s why I do my best to stay in the present moment.  When you are in the “NOW,” so to speak, there is never any danger.  It’s only when we forecast, that events spiral out of control.  What worrying REALLY is is forecasting, looking into your crystal ball, attempting to discover what will happen in the future.  Have you noticed THAT is when you are under the MOST stress?  THAT is what causes the pit in your stomach?  There is only one who can properly forecast.

Leave the future to HIM.
Give HIM your worries.
Unburden the shackles of worry and walk gratefully into the present moment.
Nothing can harm you in the present moment; so do your best to stay there.

That is really the only way to live a joyful life.

Stop worrying and confidently move forward, placing one foot in front of the other.
You can do it!

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

A Force in the Universe

There’s a force in the universe that’s 100 percent trustworthy.  It creates and manifests from love, cooperation, beauty, and expansiveness, and it’s to this flawless work of spirit that you can return in order to know inspiration.

Wayne Dyer
Your Ultimate Calling

In my power group, I’ve been told that I have the “God gene.”  That’s not the EXACT phrase that’s used.  What they mean is that I have faith that I’m taken care of, that no matter what happens, I’ll be safe. I’ve mentioned to them that I don’t worry….

….about anything.  It’s why I connect with the above quote by Wayne Dyer.

I understand that I’m taken care of.  No matter what.  I’ve always been blessed to feel that.  I wish everyone could feel the power of faith that I do.  But we all have our own path to walk.  That force mentioned above?

It can be seen as the Universe, a Higher Power, God.

We all need something to cling to when we are circling the drain.  For me, I’ve always relied on God.  I see him everywhere.  It’s why I think I’ve felt protected, because, for myself, God is everywhere.  I feel like we have a symbiotic relationship.  I believe God is everywhere, so God gives me the faith I need to march through this my latest incarnation.

I believe faith and God are all around us we simply have to know where to look.  Sometimes you can’t see what you’re looking for because you have your blinders on.  Remove those spiritual blinders, as I like to say and you’ll feel that force that Wayne Dyer writes about above.

It’s easy for me to have this faith that everything will be alright, because it’s a gift I’ve had my entire life.  If you want some  as I wrote in 2012, the best way is to start small.

There’s a force in the universe that is looking out for all of us.  Can you find it?  If not:
Start small.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

You Can Fail At What You Don’t Want

I had no idea that Jim Carrey followed my train of thought.  The preceding link that is his name is all you need to watch today.  He discusses taking a chance on doing something you want.  Carrey says:
You can fail at doing what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.

In the short video, Carrey uses phrases I use all the the time:
You can ask the universe.

Image from:

That’s been my philosophy my entire life.  I’ve devoted a whole category to this at Wisdom and Life:
Parental Pressure.

No one should pilot your life other than you.  We’ve all incarnated with gifts to share.  It is up to us as individuals to find those gifts and use them to create abundance in our lives as well as the lives we touch.

Don’t let anyone poison your dreams.
Follow the path that you want.
Ask the Universe.

I’ve seen that video countless times as I’m sure many of my readers have as well.  But it’s always nice to have a reminder that these concepts that were once hidden away and seen as esoteric are now becoming more mainstream.

Jim Carrey is right when he he discussed his father in the short snippet above.
Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Power Group

As a follow up to Centering Prayer Group, I think it is important to surround yourself with as many like minded people as possible.  Almost ten years ago now (Wow!  Hard to believe after writing that, that it has been that long.) three of my friends and I started meeting weekly to discuss all the positive that was happening in our lives.  The group sort of ran out of gas about two years later.  We all still stayed in touch, just not in a formal meeting.

In January, the same people reconstituted and we are once again meeting.  Like nothing has changed we fell back into our comfort zone and it’s been amazing.  The original concept behind developing our group was to support our positive movements and by discussing them, help more positivity bloom.

As it says in one of the Law of Attraction tenets:
Surround yourself with the positive and think positive and more of that will come to you.

That’s how our group works even now.  We look for positive things that our happening in our lives and we discuss them.  In the week between our meetings we carry on a daily email where we list three positive things that have happened or are happening in our lives that day.  It may sound silly.  However, as I said earlier, the more positive we find to be grateful for the more that will arrive.

It’s important to develop this routine if you want to live a grateful life:
–Surround yourself with as many like minded people as possible.  (Find groups that practice your belief system.)
–Find the positive in any challenges you encounter.  (In other words turn the negative into a positive.  You can ALWAYS find some small gift in a challenge.  It just takes practice.)
–When something positive happens be grateful.

One of the things I’ve started to do when I wake in the morning, before my feet even touch the floor is say out loud:
Something amazing will happen today.

This is a result of our group.

Find like minded people and you’ll find your outlook changing for the better.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Vision Boards

You have sole ownership of your vision. And the Universe will give you what you want within your vision. What happens with most people is that they muddy their vision with “reality”. Their vision becomes full of not only what they want but what everybody else thinks about what they want, too. Your work is to clarify and purify your vision so that the vibration that you are offering can then be answered.

Abraham-Hicks

I’m going sideways with this quote today and talk about what your vision is and how to create the life you want, the career you want, the relationship you want.  I’m sure since you’re here at Wisdom and Life, you are at least tangentially aware of what a vision board is:

Image from:
Pixabay
I remember in 1984 when I attended Mohegan Community College in Norwich, Connecticut.  I took a psychology class and one of the tasks we had to undertake was creating a vision board, although, at that time it wasn’t called a vision board.  It’s been so long now I don’t recall what the professor called the project.  Nevertheless, that’s what I created.  I cut out pictures from magazines of a woman holding a fishing pole, someone with a camera and someone sitting down with a pencil writing.  You can see even in 1984 that some of my interests then are the same I have today.  The woman holding the fishing pole?  Well at the time I wanted a relationship with someone who had some of the same interests that I did.  Fishing was an obsession in the 1980s for me.

The next time I came across the subject of vision boards was in Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret.  This is a powerful tool to use when wanting to create the life you want.  It’s like the Law of Attraction says:
Ask
Wait
Thank.

Ask:
Create your board and make it as specific as possible.  Find images that show what you want.  If you want a boat, paste a boat to your board.
If you want a mansion, find a picture of a mansion.
Whatever you want, find an image that correlates with your vision.

Wait:
Once your board is created, put it away and forget about it.  Don’t go looking at it every day.  It needs time to percolate.  If you’re constantly referring to it, the board won’t have time to work its magic.

Thank:
When the things you want start coming to fruition, it is absolutely important to thank the Universe, thank the Divine, thanks God.  Remember:
Being grateful is possibly the most important factor in practicing Law Of Attraction.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

How Many Friends

You only need two close friends in which you can trust and dedicate yourself to. Having too many friends can lead to depression and stress.

Law of Attraction

Moving as much as I did growing up, you’d think I would have had a challenging time finding friends. I would have if I became intimidated and fearful.  I could very well have done so and no one would have blamed me.

friendship

That’s NOT who I am!

If I wanted to have friends, I had to be the one to make the first move.  I’m still that way. I have lot’s of people I call friends, but I can count on one hand the number of people who REALLY know me and know ALL of my secrets.  It’s quality NOT quantity that I strive for.

I see this on “social”  ALL THE TIME:
The race to accumulate the most followers, the most “friends.”  And how is that working for you?  Are ALL of these people in your virtual circles helping you?

How many of them share your content?
How many of them comment?

As in the real world, I’d rather have people in ALL my circles, both virtual as well as physical who do their best to help me improve.

It’s quality over quantity.

Being an introvert at heart it can be challenging for me sometimes to reach out, however as I said earlier if I want to make friends it is up to me to make the first move.  And as I’ve said at Wisdom and Life on previous occasions, I THINK my intuition is spot on most of the time.  I can usually tell within a matter of minutes whether I feel compatible with someone.  I’d rather have one or two friends who know me implicitly, knows all of my secrets and still want to be my friend then a whole host of friends who know only certain parts of me.  While it is important to be liked by many, I think it’s more important to be loved by a few despite all our secrets, flaws and weaknesses.   I’m fortunate to have found my genetic friends.

These people are very important to me and even if we don’t see each other as often as I’d like we are all still connected and when we do get together we can pick up as if we’d just seen each other a day earlier.

How many of you can say that?
How many of you have such friends?

Friendship, love:
That’s what makes the world go round.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Pipe Dreams

My pipe dream, the one I’ve had my ENTIRE life is to own a yacht and spend my winters in Key West and my summers on Block Island.  I’ve been asking the Universe for as long as I can remember and practicing The three tenets of Law of Attraction:
–Ask
–Believe
–Give Thanks

I actually fell in love with Key West in 2006 while my brother, Jay was stationed there.  I was fortunate enough to visit twice in 2006.  Once in January and once in May.

From the moment I stepped off the plane and onto the tarmac of Key West I felt the EXACT same way I do when I visit Block Island.  You can imagine being the photographer that I am just how much I LOVED visiting Key West.

Since I no longer enjoy flying, having a yacht would negate that challenge of travelling.  Even when I loved to fly I had this dream of owning a yacht so I could travel and put in at area marinas up and down the eastern seaboard.  Have my camera, my laptop and I’d be happy.  Spend my days writing and taking pictures.  Who wouldn’t want that life?

These are my two favorite places I’ve EVER visited. The amazing thing is that I’m so close to Block Island that I get to go every year at least once, sometimes as many as three times.

Key West not so much.  A boat would change that.  I could travel anywhere.
What’s your pipe dream?

Blessings to you.

Chaos Creates Peace

Make more decisions in every day. Because a decision is a summoning of life. That’s why a little chaos is good for you, because often you don’t make a decision until you get yourself in a jam. And then, in the middle of the jam, you make a decision?  Have you ever been a place where you couldn’t quite make up your mind and you just felt sort of limp? “Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know.”

And then you decided, and you felt alive again. We want you to know that you’ll never get it done. So don’t approach this from, “I gotta get on this” because you’re not ever going to get it done, anyway. And the other thing we want you to know is, you cannot get it wrong. So, make a decision. Let it flow.

Abraham Hicks

Wisdom and Life’s original intention was as a Law of Attraction resource, as can be seen from the number of columns at the preceding link.  My blog took a detour shortly after its inception. Law of Attraction still plays a role here, however.

Chaos is good for you?  Yes.  Sometimes it is.

Image from:

chaos

It is only in chaos that we really live.
It’s in chaos that our lives come into focus.
It’s in chaos where we MUST choose this path or that one.

For while, I said chaos is good for us, we certainly don’t want to spend our entire lives there.  That would NOT be good.  As with everything though, if we didn’t know chaos we surely wouldn’t know peace.  In my column God’s Tunnel, I refer to a scene in Oh God, Book II where George Burns as God talks to the protagonist about why there is so much suffering in the world.  God tells Tracy that there are opposites.  You can’t have good without bad. Etc.

Peace and Chaos can walk the same path just as Science and Religion can.  They are both opposite sides of the same coin.  Without chaos we wouldn’t know peace and without science we certainly wouldn’t know religion.

So while we have chaos there is also peace.  And when does that peace arrive from the chaos?  After you’ve made a decision, correct?  Whether that decision is right or not is not the thing to worry you, because as Abraham-Hicks says:
You cannot get it wrong.

The calm that comes over you after you’ve made your choice is all you need to understand and stay with.  Everything else is simply ephemera.  Let all that go and relish in the decision that you’ve made.  Move on and don’t look back.

Without chaos we wouldn’t be put in a place to make a decision.  So, chaos plays an integral role in our lives, much more so than we think.  We should welcome it when it comes knocking and bid it adieu when it is replaced by the calm we so look forward to after we make that decision.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Once you realize that life is eternal,
That our souls our eternal,
That we return to light and physical over and over;

We then lose all our distress
We then lose all our fear of dying.  For there truly is no end.

Fear Not!

Fear itself is not the impediment to your joyful life. But, fear is pointing at the impediment to your joyful life. And just as the feeling of fear is within you, the impediment is within you also.

Abraham Hicks

Fear is a tricky word.  It can be an impediment just as it can be a blessing.  Fear can hold you back or if you choose it can also move you forward.  What are you afraid of?

Failure?

Image from:

Fear

There is no failure.  There are only lessons to learn.
Even death isn’t a failure.  Because there is no death.  There is only transition.

You leave on state, the physical and transition to the spiritual, to the ethereal.  And even that state is temporary until we become living flesh again.  The failures we THINK we’ve seen are only lessons to learn in our next incarnation.  There is no reason to fear…

….ANYTHING!

Sometimes, as the image above suggests, you have to trust but IF you stray off the “trust” path, you may be fearful at first, however you may just find a new path and discover something about yourself you didn’t know.  Fear can hold you back but it can also move you forward if you release it and step out of your comfort zone.

And remember:
There is nothing to fear.
There is no failure.  Only challenges and lessons to learn.

Fear is a word that you can dismiss from your lexicon if you’re strong enough.

Remember, fear only rears it ugly head when we look too far into the future, when we forecast, when we start to think what happens tomorrow, next week, next year.  How do we stay joyful?  By staying in the present moment.  Nothing bad can happen in the present moment.

Stop forecasting!
Stop focusing on the future!

Finding it challenging to stay in the present moment?  When I have trouble doing that I meditate.

–Meditating is an excellent way to get centered and stay centered.
–Meditating can knock the fear out of you, can knock it to kingdom come, can knock it out of the ballpark.  Fear is just a word.  You can knock that word of your lexicon.

Fear not!

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

What Are You Grateful For?

Seeing as we are in November, it’s that time of year to ask what we are grateful for.  And Being Grateful is a HUGE part of Law of Attraction.  I’m sure you’ve seen the memes going around in November suggesting that the month is the Thankful Month.  As I walked home from downtown last week, I went through everything I could think of that I’m grateful for and the funny thing is that everything I thought of initially began as a challenge.  That in itself is something that I’m grateful for.

Thanksgiving

I can generally see that what are initially obstacles, that what at first blush seem like a negative event usually turns golden if we wait long enough.  You only have to read my column Phone Call to the Future to see how that example turned out.  Look at where I live:

I’m a five minute walk from work.  I’m a five minute walk to get downtown.

Seeing as I can’t drive on the highway, it’s yet another example of The Divine looking out for me.  I’m beyond grateful to my Aunt Bet who became my Fairy Godmother.

I’m grateful that I now understand that our emotional storms happen when they happen to clear away the debris that we no longer need.  EVERY time I THINK something negative has occurred in my life, be it a break up, be it financial, be it something more long term I ALWAYS see something positive come out of the negative experience.  Living through the turmoil of the early 1970s put me on the path to owning my condo in Madison.

But, you say.  Look at how long you had to wait.  I understand.  I only lived through three years of turmoil to get a lifetime reward, though.  36 months is nothing when you compare it to your entire lifetime.

The two things I’m MOST thankful for then our:
First, my Aunt Bet because as I said in Fairy Godmother, she provided me the security of a home in Madison.

Second, the fact that I live within five minutes of downtown.

What are you grateful for?

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.
