Imagining Our Success

Leverage your time more by spending a little more time every day imagining and a lot less time every day doing. Do a little more imagining and a little more less doing. Until eventually most of what’s happening is happening in the cool, calm, anticipatory state. Just imagine yourself into the successes, and watch what happens. Imagine a little more and act a little less.

Abraham-Hicks

Success is personal.  How we view it.  How we get there.  What it takes to attain it.  First we have to believe it is within our grasp.  How do we do that?  I believe Abraham-Hicks has it right:
We first have to imagine it.
We have to tell ourselves we are a success.  And we must believe it!
We must tell others we are successful even if we may not feel it.

Because success means different things to different people, we aren’t exaggerating.  If we imagine our success, if we think we are accomplished, our lives will reflect it in what we see.  If we tell others we are accomplished, they will see it, for people only see believe what they see.

Stop downplaying your accomplishments
Stop featuring your failures.

Start imagining the riches that are already in your life.
Start focusing on the advancements you’ve made.

The other important thing you need for success, for an accomplished life is the right people in your life.  You must surround yourself with like minded people.  People who recognize your fortune, who recognize your accomplishments.  People who are successful in their own lives.  If you want to know success then you have to see it in action.  Find a group of like minded individuals.  Whether it be artists, writers, musicians.  Whatever talent you have, become involved with the group.  And when you surround yourself with this group, you’ll naturally soak up the positive energy osmosis like.

Success, accomplishment, advancement is contagious.  And once you understand that, once you see your success take root, you’ll start seeing it in others as well.  That’s why it is so important to find a circle of friends who are accomplished.  You start to feed off each other.  You become a tree, with each branch feeding off the main trunk.  Without the trunk there would be no branches and without the branches there would be no trunk.  As I’ve always maintained at Wisdom and Life, everything is symbiotic.  EVERYTHING is connected.  Our very connectedness breeds success just as much as our individual efforts.

You MUST start by first imagining your success before you can see it come to fruition.  If you can see it, if you can imagine it before it blooms then you are already accomplished.  remember:
–Surround yourself with successful people.
–Imagine your success first
–Focus on the advancements you’ve already made.

If you can do that, your trunk will produce many branches.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Law of Attraction and Transitioning

Okay.
So please enlighten us how these two things go together, Chris. I bet is what you’re asking. I’ll tell you:

Just to make you aware that Law of Attraction is ALWAYS working in the background. You may not even know it until you’re able to recognize it. I’m hoping those of you new to the concept can take something away from my blog.

Law of Attraction says we draw into our lives what we focus on.  That’s one of the concepts.

So last Monday I had a computer job up the street.  (One of my original clients.)  After I fixed what was wrong, Carol asked me if I was still out with my camera. Then she asked if I was still writing.  I told her about my latest project:
Working on a book about transitioning.

She didn’t quite understand so I clarified that transition means dying. I don’t like using negative words. And after all dying is just moving from one state to another:
Transitioning, right?

Image from:
Wikipedia
SoulCarriedtoHeaven

Turns out we both share some of the same thoughts.

So, I stopped by my Mom’s after I left Carol since she needed help setting up her new television.  Now here’s where Law of Attraction comes into play:
While I set the television up, my Mom had the news on in the next room.  The newscaster reported on the earthquake in Nepal. Then we started discussing what we wanted after we transition.

That’s one example of Law of Attraction for you in a nutshell.  Carol and I talked about transitioning not twenty minutes earlier and here it came up again with my Mom. Totaly unrelated to my conversation with Carol.  That’s why I always say LoA  is always working in the background.  Unless you are steeped in this paradigm (as I’m fond of saying) you’ll miss it.

Start paying attention. You’ll be shocked at how much you’re missing.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Chris

Once you realize that life is eternal,
That our souls our eternal,
That we return to light and physical over and over;

We then lose all our distress
We then lose all our fear of dying.  For there truly is no end.

Amends to Those Who Oppose You

We encourage you to make peace with everyone who opposes you and with everyone whom you oppose, not only because you cannot insist on their yielding to your perspective but because their opposing perspective is of tremendous benefit to you.

You see, because of your exposure to what you perceive as their wrong or bad or unwanted behavior or perspective—you have given birth to an improved situation. And just as they helped the problem side of the equation to come into focus, they helped the solution side of the equation to come into focus, also; and that solution waits for you in your Vortex of Creation.

Through our daily meditation process, you will come into alignment with those solutions and creations that are in your Vortex, and from inside your Vortex, you will feel appreciation for everyone who contributed to its becoming.

When you make peace with those who differ in desire and belief and behavior from your ideas of what is appropriate, you do not perpetuate what you consider to be wrong. Instead, you align with the solution side of the equation that has been waiting for you in your Vortex of Creation.

Abraham Hicks

Make amends with those who oppose you?
Seriously?

Abraham-Hicks isn’t the only one who believes this.  It’s a practice of every world religion:
Forgive your enemy.  The Christian Bible has much to say on forgiveness.

Matthew 5:44 says:
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.

Ephesians 4:31 – 4:32 says:
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Luke 6:27 says:
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you.

In Buddhism:

I’ve written at Wisdom and Life about how holding onto anger is grasping a hot piece of coal.

Every major religion discusses forgiveness and making peace with those in opposition to you.  Unfortunately not every person practices.

I’m sure you’ve heard it said that there is nothing new under the sun.  That everything old will be new again.  This is why as I’ve said at Wisdom and Life:
that Law of Attraction is simply another gateway to Spirituality and Faith.

If you look back at the basic tenets of Law of Attraction, you’ll find many traits it shares with Faith and religion.  Another reason I’ve maintained that discovering Law of Attraction has only served to deepen my faith.

The only way I can survive,
The only way my happiness is ensured,

I no longer hold grudges.  I do my best to, as Abraham-Hicks says:
make peace with everyone who opposes me and with everyone I oppose.

I don’t need stress in my life and carrying anger and grudges and not letting go, hurts us just as much as a physical wound does.  By focusing on someone’s anger toward you or by continuing to hold onto your own anger against someone else it not only brings more of that to you, it also creates a place where it won’t dissipate.

I imagine if you’re here at Wisdom and Life reading these columns, you are someone who wants to find peace, who wants joy.  One way to find that peace within yourself is to let go of anger, let go of grudges.  Because who is it REALLY hurting?  Is it hurting the person you’re angry at or is it hurting you?  Let go of that hot piece of coal.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive

One of the challenges with Law of Attraction is when you REALLY begin to understand what it says and what it can do for you is you learn to be VERY specific when asking for something.  You’ve heard the adage:
Ask and ye Shall Receive

Image from:
Amazon
Monkey'sPaw

That is a Biblical reference that has been assumed by Law of Attraction.  The more specific you are, the more information you give, when making your request, the greater the opportunity you will have to receive everything you want.  Before putting your wish “out there” so to speak, make sure you think of EVERY contingency, make sure you’ve thought about EVERY feature you want.  That can be a challenging undertaking, but unless you think through your desire clearly, you will surely come away with something less than what you asked for.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic relationship.
Whether you’re looking for a job or career.
Whether you’re looking for a place to live.

Make sure you think long and hard about EVERYTHING you want:
In a relationship:
Do you want long term
Do you want to be exclusive and monogamous in time?
Long term and exclusive are two ENTIRELY separate traits.

If you ask for long term and THINK you are asking for monogamous, think again.  If you want an exclusive and monogamous relationship, then ask for that.  Write down EVERYTHING you want and be as specific as possible.  Don’t put ANYTHING “out there” that you don’t want.  The more specific you are the more you will receive.

Take it from personal experience.  I didn’t realize this until I came in contact with Law of Attraction, however, EVERY relationship I’ve had has come to me as a result of my asking for EXACTLY what I wanted.  And I ALWAYS received EXACTLY what I asked for.  I’ve left out key points each time I put the request “out there.”

When looking for a home:
Do the same thing:
Be as specific as possible.
Write down EVERYTHING you want.

I have a friend who looked for a house several years ago and did this.
She found the EXACT house she described while writing down her wants.

The lesson I’ve learned when making requests, when asking for gifts, when seeking what I want:
Be as SPECIFIC as possible when asking the Universe/God/The Divine for ANYTHING.

Because the LAST thing I want is for what happened in W.W. Jacobs Story:
The Monkey’s Paw.

The definitive:
Better make sure you’re as specific as possible when asking for ANYTHING.
Or
Be careful what you ask for because you just may receive it.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

A Great Chasm

As you go the way of life you will see a great chasm
Jump.
It’s not as wide as you think.

Carol Shaben

I read Into the Abyss this past summer and was blown away.  If you’d like to know what the book is about, feel free to open the preceding link.  It will bring you to Scranton Page Turner, one of my other blogs I write. Creating abundance doing what I love has been an amazing experience.  I get to read for a living.  Who else can say that?  Many people obviously.  However, I’ve learned since being in this worldview I’ve been experiencing for sometime now, that as Law of Attraction suggests, our thoughts do indeed create reality.  Because I CHOOSE to see my career in a certain light, because I CHOOSE to see I get to read for a living that’s what becomes my reality.

Chasm

I find inspiration for Wisdom and Life everywhere as you can clearly see from this above quote.  As with photography, when I’m constantly seeing with my photographer’s eye, everything quote, every phrase I come across becomes fodder, becomes as my friend, Jason Marchi likes to say becomes grist for the mill.

The above passage can be used in almost every aspect of life.
Don’t be afraid.

Life is full of challenges, full of chasms.  You can’t move forward if you always choose the easy path.  You won’t live life fully unless you take some risk, unless you jump occasionally.  You’ll stagnate if you constantly run from that chasm.  There will be no success.  Life without risk is not the life I want.  No one should want that life!

It’s not as wide as you think.
The chasm is NEVER as wide, the challenge you THINK you have is NEVER as challenging as you make it out to be.  After you’ve faced it down, after you’ve jumped, once on the other side, tell me this isn’t true.  Every time you face a challenge and jump, the less likely you’ll shrink from the next one that appears.  As with muscle memory, the more you do something, the stronger you become.

Take that risk!
Jump.
You may surprise yourself and find that you can indeed fly.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Snowball Effect and Law of Attraction

For those of you unaware I wear a myriad of hats:
Photographer
Writer
Librarian

And:
Social Media Consultant.

Image from:

Snowballs

I belong to the Madison Connecticut Chamber of Commerce on the back of my photography business:
CJP Photos.

However, I’ve found another venture I have re-imagined is getting me more attention now than my photography.  At one point in the late 1990s and very early 2000s I owned a computer consulting business.  I built several Windows based computers for a few clients.  I used my knowledge to troubleshoot both hardware and software.  My client base was huge, having over a hundred clients.

In 2001 after finishing my library science degree, I found a job at my local library where I still put my computer knowledge to work.  Once hired full time I dispersed my clients to several other people I knew and trusted.  I kept a handful for myself so I could keep my hands in the business.  That computer business has now been re-imagined and that is what is drawing clients now.  I help people maintain their websites as well as get people up to speed on the various Social Media platforms available.  I never want to get as busy as I did with my computer business.  I don’t have the time and it wouldn’t be fair to those “imagined clients” if I couldn’t help them.  At the moment I have about six clients and I can afford to acquire approximately four more.  I can maintain a base of ten, not much more than that however.

The Madison Chamber of Commerce has a monthly social gathering where local business owners come for food, beverage and connection.

Last month I attended the social with my friend, Cathy who owns an eco friendly cleaning business.  I maintain Cathy’s website:
Sea Green Natural and I promote her business online.

As a result of that, she does her best to help promote my Social business.  Last month, at the Chamber event, I picked up a new client and we met for the first time last Wednesday (November 12.)  When our meeting ended, Agnieshka Jadak from Jadak Hair Restoration couldn’t have been happier with how much I did for her in the two hours we were together.  We have another meeting scheduled for today.  A few hours later, my phone rang.  Another client, this one also a referral from Cathy, wants me to edit a manuscript and help him with Social Media.

And that’s not all:
The following morning I received a call from a friend of mine who wants me to help get him up to speed with Social.

This was a connection I made on my own.  I’m convinced however, that all of these clients are connected to Agnieshka starting the snowball rolling.  You know how strong a belief I have in Law of Attraction.  The fact that these other clients came immediately after that initial meeting leads me to believe it is surely Law of Attraction in action.  The more we do something, the more we are active with something that brings us joy, the more of that that will arrive in our world.

So I have Cathy and Agnieshka to thank for this snowball.  It’s rolling and picking up speed.  I know it will continue to accumulate more snow (more clients) as it builds momentum.  I have the ability to slow the momentum if I feel overwhelmed, which is also a good thing.  At the moment, however, I’m relishing the speed at which all this is happening.  I’m so excited.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!

Blessings to you.

You Get What You Think About

You get what you think about, whether you want it or not!  So be careful what you think about.

Your Ultimate Calling
Page 346
Wayne Dyer

Wayne Dyer wasn’t always a Law of Attraction guru.  He evolved into this paradigm much like many of us did.  He has always been on the positive path however.  Think about how many times you’ve wanted something (no pun intended. Just worked out that way.)

WayneDyer

How many times have you received what you thought about?
50%?
60%?

Was it higher than that?

I’m guessing it was.  Have you ever stopped to consider that our thoughts REALLY do create our reality?  Have you ever considered that something we all poo poohed as new age mumbo jumbo may REALLY hold some credence?  May REALLY hold some water?

Image from:
Wikipedia

As I’ve said at Wisdom and Life countless times. Law of Attraction is merely another way of looking Faith and Spirituality.  It’s why the bulk of my writing here centers on these two topics.  In my opinion just as Science and Faith are two sides of the same coin, Law of Attraction is just another way of looking at Faith:
Ask and ye shall receive.

Hmmmm.  Why does that sound so familiar?  Mayne because it is Biblical in nature.  It is also one of the major covenants of Law of Attraction.  As is:
You get what you think about.

Heck even Be careful what you wish/think about is Biblical.  All of the Law of Attraction gurus are simply using their voices to make faith more palatable to the masses.  Some of them may not even realize what they are doing.

You get what you think about, whether you want it or not!  So be careful what you think about.

The Universe/God/Higher Power is only reacting to your thoughts, whether they be positive or negative.  It can only bring to you what your thoughts say you want.  So as I’ve said here before as well:
Be as specific as possible when thinking you want something.  You certainly don’t want something like The Monkey’s Paw to happen to you.

Wayne Dyer happens to be the first subject I discovered after watching Rhonda Byrne’s Secret on DVD.  I didn’t stagnate.  I realized there was so much more to Law of Attraction then what was brought out in The Secret.  I learned quickly to meld faith and Law of Attraction because I understood many of the the topics discussed in The Secret had Biblical origins and because I’ve always had a strong faith I dug deep into the parallels between the two.

It’s what I CHOOSE to see.  Anyone who has read Wisdom and Life for some time will realize that I believe everything comes down to choice.  We all choose what to believe.  And that choice manifests our reality.

What do you choose?

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Stop Resisting

No one experiences freedom until they stop pushing against others. The only thing that binds you is the pushing against that which is unwanted. And so, if a religion could just be excited about what it is, or a person within a religion could just speak with appreciation about what it is, without justifying what it is by pushing against everything else, then each religion, in all of its difference, could be just exactly what you’re reaching for.

Abraham-Hicks

No one experiences freedom until they stop pushing PERIOD!  Pushing against others, pushing against a challenge, pushing against whatever, all takes resistance and force.  Letting go?  That can take effort if we’ve been programmed from day one that the only way to get what we want is by pushing for it.
Don'tPush

It becomes easy.
It becomes the way to do things.
It becomes second nature.

We have to learn a new way.  We have to learn to let go and let God.  Why push?  Why resist when whatever will happen, will happen  anyway?  Just let it happen.  I’m not suggesting to simply lie down and let others walk over us.  I’m not suggesting to let circumstances control our every move.  What I am saying is that when you reach a point where something isn’t going the way you planned it, relax, breath in and breath out and simply let life take its course, let go and let God take the wheel.

HE knows the course.
HE has the map.  You don’t.  Why struggle?  Why try to drive when you don’t know where you’re going?  When you can’t see the path?

Stop pushing.
Let go.

Appreciate where you are.
Appreciate that you got this far.  But know you didn’t get here alone.  Know there’s always a Divine hand guiding you. And be grateful for that hand.

Stop pushing.
Let go.

What happens when you hit a wall?
Do you simply sit down and give up?  No!  You find a way around the wall, correct?  So why should meeting resistance be any different?  You have to find a way around the resistance.  Sometimes the only thing you can do is let go.  Letting go is NOT giving up.  There is always someone who you can reach out to.
A friend?

Someone who is always there, in the dark of night.  Someone who will drop everything to be by your side in a heartbeat:
Family?

We should all be fortunate to have someone like that.  I’m fortunate to have both.  A BEST friend who would drop anything and race to my side if I needed it.  And family who would do the same.  It is so important to cultivate friends and family who would go through walls for you.  If you have no one in your life like that it would behoove you to find someone.

Stop pushing.
Let go.

Let go and Let God.  That’s one of the slogans from every twelve step program.  Let God take control.  For HE is the ONLY one EVER truly in control.  The sooner you realize this, the easier your life will flow.  Remember that slogan I’m so fond of:
Row your boat gently DOWN the stream.

For it’s only when we resist, it’s only when we fight, it’s only when we struggle.  It’s only when we go against the current that we get in trouble.

Stop pushing.
Let go.

Let the current, let the stream take us where we are meant to go.  Don’t resist.

Let go and Let God.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Education, Right Brainers and Discovering Our Gifts

You are really individual beings, with very special talents, and it would be nice if teachers had the time, or parents had the awareness or skill, to see the children as the very individual, very special beings that they are. So that rather than trying to drum them into one category, they are, instead, appreciating the special insight that each child brings to the sea of diversity and contrast which is the stuff that creation comes from.

Abraham-Hicks

We all have our God given gifts.  It’s up to us to discover them and use them to our advantage.
Parents?
Teachers?

Image from:

KnowledgePower

They MAY mean well.  But too many times they guide their children in the same way they were guided.  By pigeonholing them into careers that will earn them the MOST money, disregarding the fact that many people who are financially secure are emotionally bereft.

Which would you honestly rather be?
Financially successful?
Or
Emotionally successful?

What if you could be both?  You can be!  You simply have to discover the gift or gifts that were given to you when you incarnated.  Discover a way to create a career around that gift.  Whether it be songwriting.

Whether it be an artist.
Whether an actor.

Whatever you feel impassioned about
Whatever brings you joy
However you get lost in the Flow

That’s your gift.

Abraham Hicks is correct:
We REALLY are individual beings, with very special talents.
and we can’t let anyone dissuade us.
We can’t let anyone tell us different.

Do you know why our parents and our educators do what they do?
Do you know why they steer us in the financially driven direction?
One reason is as I said above, because that is how they were taught.  But there is another implication here too.

Fear.
That’s right the other reason is fear driven.  All of our teachers from our youth, our parents as well as our school administrators are fearful that we will learn that we ARE individuals, that we are not automatons, that we all don’t fit in a square box.

Some of us draw outside the lines and education today is all about conformity.  There is no room for the individual to shine.  Some people learn differently.  I should know, because I went through this myself.  I’m a visual learner. Always have been.  I’m a right brainer.  Always have been.  I don’t know where this fits on that spectrum but when I attended middle school and high school and was administered tests it became quite apparent that taking multiple choice exams was the wrong way to judge what I learned.  Give me an essay exam or an oral exam and I excelled.  This was proven several times when I failed miserably with the multiple choice tests.

It was finally discovered by a teacher who took an active interest in my growth.  In the sixth grade he pulled me aside and asked if I wanted to take the exam over, but this time he would give me an oral exam.  He realized that I actively participated in classroom discussion and understood that I had more to offer.  He was right.  After class that afternoon he and I sat in his classroom and he tested me orally.  He was shocked at how well I knew the material.  He said he knew I understood what he was teaching.  He just needed me to know he knew.  From that time, I was given essay exams and my grades shot up in that class.

So see?  We are ALL individuals and if it wasn’t for that one teacher in middle school who had taken an active interest in one of his students I very well may have floundered in his class as well.  I am grateful to him and told him so once the year was out.

Learning differently
Thinking differently has actually helped me later in life.  Being right brained is a benefit in the career I chose. Writing and being in the literary field.  Right Brainers learn visually which is what that sixth grade teacher realized immediately after seeing my results on that multiple choice exam.

It’s unfortunate that most educators today don’t take the time to understand the individual.  For if they did, I imagine we’d see more students succeed.  I’m blessed that one teacher saw that I learned differently, that I was truly right brained.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

The Miracle Behind The Curtain

Most parents, when they see children not terrorized by the things that terrorize them, they work very hard until they’ve finally got you terrorized. They teach you those irrational fears. Well-meaning, but they do just the same.

Abraham-Hicks

Image from:

Traveler-curtain

I’m reminded of a quote coming from the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel:

Everything will be all right in the end. If it’s not all right, it is not yet the end.

As children we understand this.  As MOST children become adults this and thoughts like this are beaten out of us by are well meaning parents and by society.  I don’t like the word terrorize as it signifies a conscious effort on the part of the one doing the terrorizing.  I don’t believe MOST parents CONSCIOUSLY terrorizes positive thoughts out of their children.  They are just doing what they were taught by their OWN parents. Simply  a vicious circle.

Someone has to stop the reverberation, the echo, the circle.

I choose to see the positive.
I choose to see that everything WILL be alright in the end.  That shouldn’t surprise anyone reading Wisdom and Life however.  My life wasn’t easy.

I could very well have gone down the pity path.
I could very well have become angry, depressed, and locked myself away.

I saw what that life could do and I was not going to follow that road.

I chose to see life as miraculous.
I chose to see life as a gift.

No one influenced me to see life as terrorizing.  Too much has happened in my life not to see the gift it has presented to me.  Sure!  I’ve experienced challenges.  Challenges I wouldn’t want my worst enemy to see.  But those challenges have made me the person I am today.

I’ve had experiences terrorize me.
I’ve had life do its best to terrorize me.
I’ve had people do their best to terrorize me.

Ya know what?
It hasn’t worked.  Experiences can undermine me.  Life can undermine me.  People can undermine me. I see all these things that have happened in my life and I see the gift in the experience.

Call me a fool.
Call me an optimist.
Call me too trusting.

But I see the miracle behind the curtain.
I see the positive in the negative.
I see the magic in the moonlight.

Life is full of miracles.  We only have part the invisible curtain to find it.  Do you know where that curtain is?  And if you found it would you be able to see the miracle yourself?  Or have you been so terrorized as you were growing up to NOT see life as the blessing that it is?

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.
